Messenger of Peace Roadshow at "A Happy MisOr" Peace Jamboree

The newly formed Misamis Oriental Council's Messenger of Peace Team together with Brighton Venturers, a community-based outfit of BSP Manila Council Philippines, led the implementation of the Messenger of Peace module in the recently concluded "A Happy MisOr Peace Jamboree" held in Santa Ana, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental last April 1-5, 2014. The Peace Jamboree was well attended by several BSP Councils coming from the different parts of Mindanao, bulk of which came from the Western provinces. The event was supported by the local government unit of the province led by Vice Governor Joey Pelaez, who is also the current Chairman of the Misamis Oriental Council. The following sub activities were included in the MOP module: Video Presentation about Peace and Networking, Online Registration Drive for the Scout.org online platform, Drawing for Peace, Sing-A-Song, Team Building/Networking and other filler games/side activities. The activities presented by the MOP facilitators were well received by the Scouts who attended the event. Sing-A-Song (Alele) and the Team Building/Networking sub-modules were the most noteworthy and most applauded among the activities. Adult leaders from different councils would also like to incorporate these sub-modules in their school activities and leadership training. Invited companies from different sectors also lend their helping hand to support the MOP roadshow. Smart Communications, the largest telecom company in the Philippines (https://www.facebook.com/SmartCommunications), provided event tent structures for our module stations and internet connection exclusive for our online MOP registration. Virginia Food (http://virginiafood.com.ph/), through the efforts of the Misamis Oriental Council, provided snacks and refreshment for the team. In line with the event's theme: Exploring peace in diversity, the road show aims to promote unity and harmony. Despite our differences in ethnic, culture and religion; together as one, scouts can make an impact in the local society and will ensure that the promotion of peace and camaraderie will last in the region.
