500 Mangrove Trees Planting in-conjunction with World Forestry Day

In-conjunction with World Forestry Day, this week activities focused on another 500 Mangrove Trees Planting. This project was supported by 1Malaysia for Youth (iM4U). Total 500 trees targeted to be planted and join by local scouts. This week have a few public citizen who pertain to this Save Our Shores join along the project. On the first day, SWV Team member take mangrove sapling from seedling area and to bring them to planting site. We clean up the bushes in the planting site. In the mangrove forest, we barricade around planting zone to avoid participants on tomorrow to move out from the boundary. We also measure and remark the distance between trees with another tree to ensure all young mangrove trees have enough water supply and nutrient to continue survive. Second day, total 150 scout and 10 public citizens are joining this mangrove trees planting program. They are divided into 3 groups and each group lead by 2 members from Scouts of The World Voluntary Service Team. Beside to plant, a walkthrough of Mangrove Forest also conducted by SWV Team with assistance from PIFWA member to allow participants to have a chance to learn more about this pieces of Mangrove Forest.
