Scouts & Other Organizations, hold the 1st World Convivence Forum

Seven (7) Scouts from seven (7) countries; Azerbaijan, Colombia, Curacao, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, and Ukraine, participates in the 1st World Convivence Forum organized by Foro De Cordoba and King Abdulazeez International Center for Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue (KAICIID).

The Five - Day event which took place in the historic city of "Cordoba", Spain commenced with a Youth Seminar from 13th - 15th May, and the main forum from 15th - 17th May 2019. The Forum tagged: "Convivence", was organised in commemoration of the United Nations International Day of Living Together in Peace, and it brought together, 30 young persons of various Nationalities and from 9 International Organizations. the City of Cordoba was singnificantly choosen for the Forum given its historical prestige of housing a peacful coexistence of the Abrahamic religion - Christianity, Islam, and the Jewish. 

The organizations represented included; The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Co-existence and Interfaith Tour, Sayarma Foundation (Foundation of / for Teachers), Youth Red Cross, BKERKE, Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), Initiatives of Change (I of C), Salam for Cultural Communication, and Rissho Kosei-kai.

While the Nationalities covered included: Saudi Arabia, Miama, Ukraine, Lebannon, India, Japan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Colombia, Niger, Nigeria, Italy, Curacao, Kenya, Sri-Lanka, Spain, and France.

The Forum was Chaired by Jacques Moreillon - former Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) until 1988.and former Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) from November 1, 1988 to March 31, 2004, and welcomed various dignitaries and Heads of above mentioned Organizations.

The Forum through three working groups had several discussions on the theme "Convivence" being a new English word which originates from the Latin word "convivere" meaning “to carouse together”, separately defined  as "con" - “together” and  "vivere" - “to live”. It highlighted the various actions taken by various groups in peace buildng, the need for all organisations to work together in enhancing the importance and practice of livning together and resolved to address the subject through Dialogue, being an important means to building Peace and mutual understanding amongst people.

Highlights of the event included stories and experiences shared by various participants in the event - Camilo Yala, Assaad Chaftari and Razzan, tour around the wonderful city, and the wonderful hospital of Cordoba.

The five day programme brought about a rebirth and the need for collaboration, partnerships and meaningful networking between various international organizations that made commitements to take actions to promoting dialogue.
