SCOUTMUN is the first Model of United Nations of the Association of Scouts of Mexico, this event was held in the 3rd, 4th and 5th of August at the Secretary of External Relations Building in Mexico City. The objective of SCOUTMUN is to give the youth, Scouts either not Scouts members, a role to create a human sustainable development through the simulation processes of diplomatic negotiation aimed at finding dialogue between civilizations, cultures and peoples; always based in the human rights respect, common values, and the creation of conditions conducive to peace. As a participant, you had the opportunity to represent a nation in one of the four committes you could be in: General Assembly, Security Council, Food and Agriculture Organization and Economic and Social Council, each one with the chance of debating two topics. As being part of the organization committe, they had 7 secretariats. Several months before I heard about SCOUTMUN and I get so excited about it, it was the first time I saw my two passions together, the United Nations and Scouts, in a single event. At first, I didn't know who were behind this, so I send an email to ask how to get into the organization comitte. One month later they answered me and then I received a call from them. The Subsecretary of SCOUTMUN called me and told me that they were interested in me being part of the team, he gave me the chance to decide in which Secretariat I would like to be, I decided the Protocol Secretariat. I didn't have a clear idea of what a Protocol Secretary should do. In the process, I learned to make invitations for the VIP's, the closing and opening ceremony programs, how to make a presidium and the master of ceremonies' speech and many other things. During the event. I saw so many new faces, some participants came to SCOUTMUN with no idea of what was a Model of United Nations, some others didn't were Scouts either. Despite not all were experts, all the committes reached a resolution paper with such good proposals. I remembered, at the end, all the participants were so excited and happy of this event. I made so many new friends, not only Scouts friends, but friends sharing a same dream, the dream to change the world. ScoutMUN 2018 coming soon...
