The Icebreakers are people, institutions and companies that are involved in initiatives for people with special needs and disabilities. The competition “The Icebreakers” takes place since 2006; it rewards employers who create decent jobs for people with disabilities, people who fight with stereotypes and institutions that help people with special needs to improve their living standards. This year the ceremony took place in September, in the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The Polish troops gathering scouts with special needs an disabilities (drużyny “Nieprzetartego Szlaku”) were rewarded for their activities. They were the winners of the 10th edition of The Icebreakers. Agata Kornhauser-Duda, the wife of the Polish president, awarded the Head of the Polish Scouting Guiding Association hm. Małgorzata Sinica and the representatives of the troops gathering scouts with special needs and disabilities. They were rewarded for creating new opportunities in scouting environment for children and young people that are excluded from normal life in society and isolated by their deficits or difficulties with adapting to social norms. The Icebreakers help people to understand that creating better work conditions and developing mature employment policy should become a symbol of business ethics and openness to the needs of people with disabilities. They show also that the people with special needs can be excellent employees involved in building companies' success.
