3RD NATIONAL TRAINING COMMISSION MEET

Manila, Philippines – with the mandate to safeguard and ensure the conduct of quality training courses for all Adults in Scouting based on the National Training Policy, the 3rd National Training Commission meeting is currently being held at the BSP National Executive Board Room, National Office, Manila from 24 – 25 March 2017 under the leadership of the BSP National Training Commissioner Rev. Dr. Leonides T. Son, LT, together with Regional Training Commissioners from the 10 Scouting Regions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. For the first day, the Commission have thoroughly discussed the directions, development, changes and the new thrusts for all Adults in Scouting, specifically the changes in the AIS Policy, National Training Policy and the Revised and Updated Course Manual for Trainers. The commission members also tackled several clarifications on the new Training Policy as to its implementation in the field; they have carefully reviewed the Training Traditions and Practices due to the upcoming scheduled Wood Badge courses in the entire country this April and May; the monitoring and supervision of BTCs and ATCs nationwide and the Staffing for the Trainer’s Training Courses especially the Course for Managers of Learning and Course for Managers of Training, respectively. The commission members present during the two-day meeting includes Mr. Florencio B. Antonio, LT from National Capital Region; Ms. Lorna C. Bue, LT from Ilocos Region; Mr. Pedro Melchor M. Natividad, LT from Western Mindanao Region; Mr. Julito F. Berdan, LT from Southern Tagalog Region; Mr. George A. Acupan, LT from Central Luzon Region; Dr. Evelina M. Vicencio, LT as former National Training Commissioner; Mr. Angelo Tanoy, LT from Western Visayas Region; and Mr. Yasser F. Sarona, LT as the Secretary of the Training Commission and the Program and Adult Resourced Development Executive. The commission agreed to meet bi-annually and is scheduled to meet again before the year ends in order to assess and evaluate the conduct of training courses for the year under review. This will further discuss the recommendations, suggestions for development in all aspects of Program, Content, Administration, Staffing, Policy and Standard. By next week, National Office, BSP shall issue corresponding memorandum in relation to some guidelines and reminders to those who will be serving as members of the Course Staff for all series of training courses.
