My Goal 5 To-Do List
Below there are some sample actions you can contribute to the
5 Gender Equality
Support a local awareness campaign about ending child marriage. Volunteer to educate parents and kids about a girl's right to not marry early.
Deliver the activities in the HeForShe and WOSM action kit and commit to being an ambassador for gender equality in Scouting.
Be aware of gender stereotypes in everyday life. For an entire Scout meeting, perform tasks that are typically associated with the opposite gender and have a group discussion about the experience.
Calculate the ratio of women to men in your Scout group and in the national board of your scout organisation. Discuss the results with your troop.
Volunteer in a shelter for domestic violence and abuse victims. Raise your voice against violence and harassment.
Have discussions in your group about what diversity and inclusion means and why it's important in Scouting.
Use social media to raise awareness about gender inbalances in your community, for example when women and girls aren't well represented in concerts, conferences, or events.
Support female creative and amplify their voices by reading books and watching movies produced by women.
Shop locally and responsibly by buying your eco-friendly products from women-owned businesses in your community.
Explain to girls their worth. Encourage them to speak out and assert themselves. Show them their thoughts matter by asking their opinions and listening when they speak. Let them know that there is no wrong or right way to be a girl.
